About Suzanne
I’m a social change facilitator/trainer and consultant based in Canada. I’ve spent the past ten years – mostly through a fantastic charity called IMPACS – focused on strategic communications support for social justice and environmental non-profit groups. I also work and volunteer for progressive political parties, the Women’s Campaign School and several Canadian dance companies.
I’m passionate about connection. Connection transforms. It can ripple across friendships, communities and political systems, until it shifts power and restores balance and beauty in the world.
As far as I can see, the work people I do is about helping progressive people and groups connect in ways that unleash their creativity, power and vision. It’s kind of like spinning plates – but a it’s a different kind of “spin”. Still, if that also means engaging in hard-assed political strategy along the way, I’m there

Hi Suzanne – its a lovely day here in Calgary. I am doing some reserach on sustainability and communications and I thought of you. I saw you speak at a Capacity Building workshop put on by Ecotrust and Volunteer Calgary in March, at which time I worked for an NGO in Calgary for 9 year focusing on marketing environmental education. I am now the newest member of the City of Calgary’s Ecological Footprint Team, charged with creating communications plans that catalyze behaviour changes in Calgarians that will reduce Calgary’s Ecological Footprint.
Your presentation resinated with me, especially in the terms of making the link from education to behaviour change. I am tasked to begin communicaitons around ecological footprint in Calgary and I would like to know what resources are out there for building a communications plan that fosters empowering the community. I have seen the “59 Smart Orgs” and wondering if there are otehr road maps to follow for communicaitons around sustainability?
